Over the course of their thirty trips around the sun, Earth has remained diligent in their commitment to monolithic minimalism. The sonic vocabulary may have changed—from their early years churning out seismic drone metal on albums like Earth 2 (1993) to the dusty Morricone-tinged comeback album Hex; Or Printing in the Infernal Method (2005) to the meditative rock approach of Primitive and Deadly (2014)—but the underlying principle of austerity and restraint remains a constant. With their latest album Full Upon Her Burning Lips, Earth purges the layers of auxiliary instrumentation that embellished some of their previous records and deconstructed their dynamic to the core duo of Dylan Carlson on guitar and bass and Adrienne Davies on drums and percussion. In the process, they tapped into the Platonic ideal of Earth—an incarnation of the long running band bolstered by the authority of purpose, where every note and every strike on the drum kit carries the weight of the world.

FORCED INTO FEMININITY (Chicago)
"Forced Into Femininity has been the "marxist body horror act" of performance artist and musician Jill Lloyd Flanagan for 9 years. Jill is known for playing in the bands Coughs (Load Records), 2watt, Gula-Gila, and more. The music of Forced Into Femininity is a mix of asymmetrically assembled beats, strange electronic outbursts, and of course Jill's arresting vocal style. It has that truly rare quality of being unlike anything else." with local support:
VOSP (formerly SOFT TARGET),
POWER MONSTER, and
YU//F.
Monday December 12th 2016...Tiki Day in Pawtucket. all the way from Japan on their first ever US tour: FOODMAN - brain bending electronic musician who manages to skirt between hyper speed polyrhythmic blasts, full on ambient drifts, and seinfeld theme-esque wackiness, all while retaining a singular, highly recognizable sound. DJ FULLTONO - 'godafther' of japanese juke and footwork. local support from
CONTAINER and everyone's favorite party host
DJ MANDY. all taking place at the wonderful
MACHINES WITH MAGNETS
at 9 PM for the cost of $8 DOLLARS.
with a seriously legit TIKI MENU at the bar!
Machines with Magnets presents a great show of experimental sounds: from near and far:
ANDRIA PENESADOE* (Argentina)
"AP works with sound as a performer and programer. She has been using digital media and live interactive musical systems since 1995... Harsh dense layers of sounds, often interwoven with her voice, combine hybrid synthesis techniques to create a highly personal sound language, which reflects an intuitive, emotional and paradoxically also logical approach to music making." ASPAKT* (Italy)
"An Italian duo working with electro-acoustic instruments, digital devices and systems of feedback and resonance, their music shares the timbral research and execution typical of radical improv music. The result is a fascinating and inextricable forest of sounds: frenetic structures, noise explosions, ancestral cries, an unceasing perversion of soundscapes and time." With local support from:
UNIVERSAL CELL UNLOCK and
RETRIBUTION BODY.
A much needed dose of reality and perspective after a few unrealistic weeks, the legendary Ian Svenonius (the mind that brought you Nation of Ulysses, The Make Up & Chain and the Gang) returns to Machines with Magnets with ESCAPE-ISM. Also touring is Michigander (and member of Tyvek) Shelley Salant performing as SHELLS. Beautifully cosmic, droney solo guitar musings and meditations. Local heroes, famous Load Records recording artists, recent mothers and/or homeowners, your friends and mine the inimitable WHORE PAINT in their first show defending against the patriarchy since... a real long while? And what a goddamn pleasure it is to bring to you our dearest bud––local mystic, greatest thinking, and rare performer Natalja Kent; gracing us with the presence of QUERENT AT THE MIRROR DOOR. It’s another lovely evening in Pawtucket, folks. On the eve of December 7th, 2016, we plan to have libations. We welcome your attendance.
Bellerophon - Winner of the #Dorry for Electronic Act of the Year; Favourite - Electronic dream-pop on the rocks for dancefloor lovers; Timelapzzz (Philadelphia, PA) Haze and thick low end; Straw Man Standing - Frantic synth-pop from the woods | ep release, and The Music Please - Winners of the #Dorry for DJs of the Year

ISOLDE TOUCH (CA/PA)
"The music Asha Sheshadri makes as Isolde Touch is boldly literal. Perhaps literal is inexact; concrete is closer, as her sounds have a clarity that ties them directly to their origins (a piano is exactly a piano). Conceptually she deals in abstraction, but sonically she’s unafraid to let her sources shine through like light beams where they could easily be buried in fog... This is organized music whose
physical effects come with a creative agenda, even if that agenda can be interpreted in many ways." HATCHERS (PA)
Clandestine Compositions and Machines with Magnets presents a night of harsh and heavy electronics from: Plagues (Grand Rapids, MI) - Absolutely crushing noise from the drummer of phenomenal grindcore band, Cloud Rat. Not to be confused with the MA black metal band, Brandon set a very high mark at Summer Scum this year. We are excited to host him, not to be missed. Sunken Cheek (Ithaca, NY) - "Misery Electronics", recent releases on Angst and Aught/Void. Holding down a crucial position in the central NY State harsh noise community. Progenitor of the label Prime Ruin. Plus Kjostad (Michigan) + Valentine Sinclair (PVD).
Machines with Magnets presents the return of two true visionaries from the northern reaches of Maine: BEGUILING ISLES - Grant Corum composes sound / visual encounters. He is a member of the group Million Brazilians and co-founder of label Psychic Sounds Records. Plus WHITE GOURD, with local support from:
