EVENT SERIES SHOWCASING LOCAL SYNTH FETISHISTS: Composing, synthesis, home recording... it can all be extremely isolating and lonely. You can see it on the faces of a lot of people in town if you look for it, a sort of haunted obsessed look.. spooky, really. LEA BERTUCCI (NYC) "Lea Bertucci is a sound artist, musician and composer based in New York. After starting out on saxophone at the age of nine, she went on to learn classical music and jazz, until moving into more abstract forms in her late teens and experimenting with the amplification of her bass clarinet, effects and feedback. Her most recent work on NNA Tapes features tape collage plus extended technique on string instruments including viola and cello." From Philly... LXV: "David Sutton explores organic realms by means of arranging processed voices, sampling media fragments - and so on - to draw immersive and deep landscapes. His work deals with a certain kind of natural organic expressionism, and his tracks talk about esoterics, as well as nearby dystopian realms. His play with the idea of consciousness that exhibits a particular equilibrium between arcane design and modernity is very human, almost existential." GENE PICK: "tonality is swept out of sight in subtle and patient sonic labor. The artist uses data, digital failure, and feedback carefully selected and organized. Layers of analog synthesis are dismantled and rebuilt with masked electrical pulses." Local support... VALISE, NEGATION, WORTH, & VOSP.LXVGene Pick

He was a member of Old Time Relijun since the 1990s. After Old Time Relijiun dissolved, he formed a new band based on Indonesian music called Malaikat dan Singa. de Dionyso directed "Reak: Trance Music and Possession in West Java", a documentary film about the music of an Indonesian trance ceremony; the film was shown by the Olympia Film Society in May, 2016. Machines with Magnets proudly presents the first Providence performance of early minimal synthesist, JOHN BENDER. "The few self-issued recordings by experimental electronic musician John Bender attained legendary status decades after their initial release during the early '80s. Bender's bizarre, shadowy songs were inspired by Robert Ashley and Pere Ubu, and recorded using bare-bones recording equipment and primitive synthesizers. He issued three full-length LPs and a few cassettes before vanishing; subsequently, his recordings became holy grails for aficionados of minimal synth, avant-garde, and obscure music in general." With local support from: UNIVERSAL CELL UNLOCK (CF, Daily Life, Kites), VALISE (Maralie of Humanbeast), CREAM CANDLES (Carlos of Russian Tsarlag & Bridget of Aether Jag), and HAND OF FOOD (Eric and Dave of Finished) with SAKIKO MORI (Daily Life/Lazy Magnet) playing keys and select tracks between acts.John Bender

Machines with Magnets is excited to present: UNNATURAL WAYS - Unnatural Ways is the main project of Brooklyn-based guitarist Ava Mendoza, who has performed in bands led by Fred Frith, Nels Cline, and Weasel Walter among others. The group was originally formed in early 2012 in her longtime home of Oakland, CA and relocated to NY in 2013. The current trio of Mendoza on guitar/vocals, bassist Tim Dahl (Lydia Lunch, Child Abuse, Yusef Lateef), and drummer Max Jaffe (Normal Love, Killer Bob), has developed a highly personal sound; sharp, heavy, and psychedelic. Drawing from complex rock, avant jazz and warped post-punk, the players push the boundaries of their own vocabularies and of the written music to put on powerful and unpredictable live shows. They have released recordings on ohn Zorn’s Tzadik label as well as the New Atlantis label (William Hooker, Microwaves, Elliott Sharp). With local support from: FINISHED, HAIRSPRAY QUEEN, FEEDBACK PSYCHOSIS & DJ BARRY MAALOT.Unnatural WaysFinishedHairspray QueenFeedback Psychosis
GNAW Gnaw is a New York City noise band created by Alan Dubin after the dissolution of Khanate. The band was originally composed of Dubin, Carter Thornton (of Enos Slaughter and others), Jun Mizumachi (a former live member of Ike Yard) and drummer Jamie Sykes (of Burning Witch). Guitarist/sound designer Brian Beatrice, drummer Eric Neuser, and lap-steel guitarist Dana Schechter (Angels of Light, Insect Ark) later joined the group. In addition to the traditional 4 piece rock format and string and wind instruments, Gnaw utilizes synthesis modulation, found sound and manipulated recordings. In issue 302, The Wire magazine called Gnaw "a terrifying rock sextet whose blackened vision has enough dark energy to blot out the sun". With local support from: RECTRIX (Pippi Zornoza of Bone Dust, Worms in Women & Cattle), KINTAAN (members of Finished, Longpig, Ultra Spasm Aktion), & TIMEGHOST (opening with new material). A night of progressive, electronic, and experimental songwriters: ALEC K REDFEARN & THE EYESORES - Many buzzwords have been used to describe the band’s playing and Redfearn’s composing and arranging, but they all fall short of conveying the dark beauty of the music and lyrics. The group's unmistakable sound is the result of Alec's songs, which have poignant melodies and lyrics filled with doom-laden imagery. These songs are performed by a band who use unusual instrumentation in interesting and creative ways. The music touches on elements of Americana, folk, European cabaret, minimalism, noise, and progressive rock, but it ultimately transcends all categories except for 'excellence'. SAAJTAK - a Detroit-based avant-rock quartet. LAURIE AMAT - Laurie Amat is an acclaimed vocalist, improvisational performer, experimental composer and teacher. A night of stark electronics: ambient, minimal industrial & noise. CEREMONIAL ABYSS - Solo project featuring Bryxan of Thee Source ov Fawnation: "Denver’s Ceremonial Abyss inhabits his own space in the techno landscape, a space that blurs the boundaries of what that classification can possibly mean. It’s not just the improvised, analog nature of his art, nor the pressure cooker intensity he conjures – it’s the way he glues it all together. It’s that kind of vital meditative quality, born in noise, that brings him to playing alongside acts like Wolves in the Throne Room, and at bacchanals like Katabatik’s Summer Kampout in Northern California." VERHALTEN (Chicago): "...a new project from Unur’s Patrick Scott. While Unur focuses more on stories of broken selves and melodic coldwave, Verhalten finds its noire minimalism in radio static and rhythm. Industrial, noise and muted dark techno all make their presence known." With MARK CETILIA, POWER MONSTER, AMBER ROOM & DJ KURT SNELL.Ceremonial AbyssVerhalten
...a killer Industrial, EBM, & Noise show featuring: HIDE (Midwich Records, Chicago IL) The artistic collaboration between visual artist Heather Gabel and musician Seth Sher (Coughs, Ga'an, Oakeater). HIDE creates aggressive and sparse haunting music that empowers as it punishes. HIDE's name and visual aesthetic also reflects their ideology of personal autonomy as performers/humans in a world of moral judgement and surveillance. Showcasing top-notch production and a seamless visual aesthetic, their immersive sound draws the listener into a trance state with dense, throbbing dirges. Their themes and presentation confront power dynamics and their relation to personal ideas about gender identity/fluidity. With local support from: CRAOW, TRIM, & DAVE PUBLIC. DREW MCDOWALL - "Drew McDowall started out making music in Glasgow in 1978, playing in punk group The Poems with his then wife Rose McDowall (who would go on to form Strawberry Switchblade). In the early 1980s McDowall relocated to London and became involved in the industrial scene there, working with Genesis P-Orridge and Psychic TV, then later with Sleazy Pete Christopherson and John Balance in Coil. McDowall has lived in New York for the past decade, regularly collaborating with Tres Warren in their project Compound Eye, as well as doing production work." HIRO KONE - "Hiro Kone is an Iroquois phrase that means “I have spoken,” and it’s also the alias of Nicky Mao, formerly of Effi Briest and Up Died Sound. As Hiro Kone, Mao certainly speaks, fusing rich, melodramatic vocals with synth swells and electronic percussion that ranges from skittering to propulsive, all with hints of her former bands’ psych experiments." BOY HARSHER returns "Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller have been doing Boy Harsher for a little while now, constantly honing their craft of danceable bleakness and etching their name in the wall of electronic music. Unrelenting rhythm sections match with addictively dark synth compositions and curiously ominous vocals, to make for a sound as disconcerting as it is intoxicating." With THE WHEAL, from France: "Initially a one-off performance act combining visual arts and found-sound, The Wheal has evolved into a full-fledged music project whose lineage traces back to early 80's industrial and synth-pop bands as well as modern day electronics. From heavy drum-machine and synthetic bass-lines to ritual/ambient sequences, The Wheal's dark romanticism is equal parts channeling live energies and blissfull introspection." Supported by these local acts: LINGUA IGNOTA, KURT SNELL, STRAP-ON RITUAL, and DJ MUSCLE ACADEMY (Dylan Going of Houseboy).Boy HarsherThe Wheal
Traveling from Philadelphia: SHARLYN EVERTSZ "Evertsz, formerly of confrontational noise collective The Laundry Room Squelchers, bleeds genuine ferocity. Her troubling, beat driven noise blasts brains with PE-strength and noise-punk operatics, hovering carefully between sensibilities in synth-based constructions and cacophonous free improv. She is originally from Miami, Florida and now lives in Philadelphia." ANDY BORSZ "Andy Borsz has played enough noise fests to have a pair of shoes specifically for stepping in piss. Eschewing a project moniker he approaches solo performance like a naked ape, deliberately forgetting and relearning every time on stage. The familiar maximal approaches and harsh broods of his collaboration work are always present but often the unexpected is as well: an a cappella Johnny Cash cover, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, a spontaneous meditation on the inside of a drum." With local support from: Valerie Martino, Bird Lady, Oxomo & DJ YU//F.Sharlyn EvertszAndy Borsz
FYNE ARTIST (LA): "Bashir Naim is a movement/performance artist and actor based in Los Angeles. His family founded a dance and performance art community in The Berkshire mountains. Naim was recently an Artist-in-Residence at Movement Research NYC and S & S Projects (Chicago). He can be seen opposite Anjelica Huston and Jeffrey Tambor on Amazon’s “Transparent," in Benjy Russell’s “Battlefield of Flowers," and the upcoming short film, “Raymond.” He has been featured in Bullet Magazine, Vice magazine - in print as well as on their docuseries with Ellen Page, “Gaycation." His solo performance work has been shown at LA><ART, The Hammer Museum, S & S Projects Chicago, the Tom of Finland House, Human Resources Gallery in LA, with Rhonda and Soho House International, RK Projects, Art Basel Miami, 700B in Portland, and at dozens of nightclubs and warehouses internationally." Local support from: RRLEW, HOUSE RED, DROPLET & ATROPOS, & DJ RECEPTICIDE.
FORCED INTO FEMININITY (Chicago) "Forced Into Femininity has been the "marxist body horror act" of performance artist and musician Jill Lloyd Flanagan for 9 years. Jill is known for playing in the bands Coughs (Load Records), 2watt, Gula-Gila, and more. The music of Forced Into Femininity is a mix of asymmetrically assembled beats, strange electronic outbursts, and of course Jill's arresting vocal style. It has that truly rare quality of being unlike anything else." with local support: VOSP (formerly SOFT TARGET), POWER MONSTER, and YU//F.

Machines with Magnets presents a great show of experimental sounds: from near and far: ANDRIA PENESADOE* (Argentina) "AP works with sound as a performer and programer. She has been using digital media and live interactive musical systems since 1995... Harsh dense layers of sounds, often interwoven with her voice, combine hybrid synthesis techniques to create a highly personal sound language, which reflects an intuitive, emotional and paradoxically also logical approach to music making." ASPAKT* (Italy) "An Italian duo working with electro-acoustic instruments, digital devices and systems of feedback and resonance, their music shares the timbral research and execution typical of radical improv music. The result is a fascinating and inextricable forest of sounds: frenetic structures, noise explosions, ancestral cries, an unceasing perversion of soundscapes and time." With local support from: UNIVERSAL CELL UNLOCK and RETRIBUTION BODY.
A much needed dose of reality and perspective after a few unrealistic weeks, the legendary Ian Svenonius (the mind that brought you Nation of Ulysses, The Make Up & Chain and the Gang) returns to Machines with Magnets with ESCAPE-ISM. ISOLDE TOUCH (CA/PA) "The music Asha Sheshadri makes as Isolde Touch is boldly literal. Perhaps literal is inexact; concrete is closer, as her sounds have a clarity that ties them directly to their origins (a piano is exactly a piano). Conceptually she deals in abstraction, but sonically she’s unafraid to let her sources shine through like light beams where they could easily be buried in fog... This is organized music whose physical effects come with a creative agenda, even if that agenda can be interpreted in many ways." HATCHERS (PA)Isolde TouchHatchers

SPECIAL TIKI COCKTAIL NIGHT mixed and mastered by Catherine Mary Hood. Boomkat described RETRIBUTION BODY's recent Type LP release Aokigahara as "revealing a rarified grasp of low end frequency manipulation on a par with the likes of Earth, Sunn 0))) or Phill Niblock", and Brainwashed.com said "Matthew Azevedo's singular drone performance/bass tone study has already drawn favorable comparisons to artists like Sunn O))) and Earth, but I actually see it much more in line with more formal electronic composers like Eliane Radigue, as it has a chiseled purity to it that feels very different than amplifier-worship (at times, anyway). That said, Aokigahara is still quite heavy."Retribution Body

SIZE MATTERS (Reba + Underwood) White dwarfs are the remnants of low-mass stars and, if they form a binary system with another star, they can cause large stellar explosions known as type Ia supernovae. One route by which this may happen involves a white dwarf drawing material off a main sequence or red giant star to form an accretion disc. However, when two white dwarfs orbit each other closely, emission of gravitational waves causes the pair to spiral inward. When they finally merge, if their combined mass approaches or exceeds the Chandrasekhar limit, carbon fusion is ignited, raising the temperature. Since a white dwarf consists of degenerate matter, there is no safe equilibrium between thermal pressure and the weight of overlying layers of the star. Because of this, runaway fusion reactions rapidly heat up the interior of the combined star and spread, causing a supernova explosion. In a matter of seconds, all of the white dwarf's mass is thrown into space.

"We construct situations that investigate social pathologies, myths, and zones at work at “the show.” We aim to poke at and shift the audience’s understanding of why they are even here. To this end, we disorient and activate our audiences and ourselves through terrorization and explosion, despair and boredom. Our work is distinctly ethereal and absurd. Between the three of us, there is mutual trust in a certain set of implied boundaries, but the cracks are where the light shines through. We want to get to the core of the kind of rebellion that can reveal a fuller spectrum of being human: inexplicable, inimitable, highly sensory acts. Psyched to Announce that Tashi Dorji is coming back to Machines with Marisa Anderson. Pitchforked named their split as one of the Best Experimental Albums of 2016. Tashi Dorji - A Bhutanese guitarist now residing in Asheville, NC, Tashi Dorji makes meticulously crafted sounds that conjure spirits, wrestle demons and tame wild beast. As beautiful as they are cerebral , his acoustic works are reminiscent of Derek Bailey`s free improvisations, flamenco and Fahey`s Americana. Marisa Anderson - Marisa Anderson’s guitar playing is fluid, emotional, dexterous and original. National Public Radio says Anderson’s playing “exposes and hides the mysteries of American music”. Pitchfork calls her recent record, ‘Mercury’, ”Brilliant” and Wire Magazine says, “Her sound has strength in restless variety…Anderson’s playing is heartfelt and utterly American, free from grandstanding and steeped in respect for the old tradition.”Tashi Dorji & Marisa Anderson

JPA FALZONE & BRENDAN GLASSON will be performing John Cage's "ASLSP (As SLow aS Possible)." ASLSP (As SLow aS Possible) is a musical piece by John Cage and the subject of one of the longest-lasting musical performances yet undertaken. It was originally written in 1987 for organ and is adapted from the earlier work ASLSP 1985; a typical performance of the piano version lasts 20 to 70 minutes. In 1985, Cage opted to omit the detail of exactly how slowly the piece should be played. ABOUT 1/4 VOLUME NOISE LOUNGE: 1/4 Volume noise lounge is a free 3 hour lounge session. Immediately following 1/4 Volume Noise Lounge with Ed Osborn. LESLEY FLANIGAN is an experimental electronic musician inspired by the physicality of sound, she builds her own instruments using minimal electronics, microphones and speakers. Performing these instruments alongside traditional instrumentation that often includes her own voice, she creates a kind of physical electronic music that embraces both the transparency and residue of process — sculpting sound from a palette of noise and subtle imperfections. MARIA CHAVEZ is mainly known as an abstract turntablist, sound artist & DJ. Influenced by chance & improvisation in contemporary art, she has collaborated with Christian Marclay and the Whitney Museum of American Art, performed alongside Pauline Oliveros, Thurston Moore, Phill Niblock and worked with Merce Cunningham prior to his passing as a sound artist in residence with the DIA:Beacon Museum in Beacon, NY. Ed Osborn's work takes many forms including installation, sculpture, radio, video, performance, and public projects. His works combine a visceral sense of space, aurality, and motion with a precise economy of materials. Ranging from rumbling fans and sounding train sets to squirming music boxes and delicate feedback networks, Osborn's kinetic and audible pieces function as resonating systems that are by turns playful and oblique, engaging and enigmatic. Osborn has performed and exhibited, throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and South America.Ed Osborn

Corum presents MAGIC MIRROR (Portland, OR / Maine): “Magic Mirror is the creative audio/video project of Corum whose outsider vinyl Trilogy under the monikers of Beguiling Isles and Effigy Mounds has sought to explore a metaphysical relationship with a micro to macrocosmic world. Corum has recorded with an array of artists these last few years.. and like these artists, he too brings a psychedelic atmosphere, one not culled from a traditional sense, but of a deeply inmate ability to transform a space sonically creating a more spiritual, or visceral affair. ” - Chris Webb. 1/4 Volume Noise Lounge hosted by ANIMAL HOSPITAL. Animal Hospital is a project created by Kevin Emil Micka :: A live performance of Animal Hospital consists of Kevin alone and is based on the idea of building a piece of music up from scratch into a completely fleshed out arrangement often containing enough parts to employ many musicians. The music often references many familiar aspects of contemporary rock and pop music but is open to venture out into much more experimental territory. You might remember his work directing Animal Hospital Ensemble performances - like the 30-Guitar-Strong performance under the bridge for the first DOT AIR.Animal Hospital
Okay, so contrary to printed posters and calendars, Dave Public isn't playing this noise lounge. We wish him the best on his trip to a memorial in NJ and look forward to his RETURN. In his stead we've got another act with the initials "DP." 6-9pm | NOISE LOUNGE | 1/4 Volume | FREE | not a show, come play checkers and mind games | Gallery Hours DIAL PAINTERS (Steven W. Greco and Marcel McVay) will rip three hours of lounge noise, recalling the tragedy of the Radium Girls aka Watch Dial Painters who painted ever-glowing Radium paint on the numbers of watch dials in and around 1917. Pointing their brushes with quick lashes of their tongues and nimble lips, these teenage wage workers rapidly poisoned themselves - their buried bodies still cranking gieger counter clicks to this day. Also apparent will be a Tralfamadorian sense of timelessness, time warping and the simultaneous experience of birth, death and the passion inherent between them.Marcel McVay

Announcing the 80th consecutive PechaKucha Providence (er... the Greater Providence area)! This month we return to Machines With Magnets, the cool performance space/recording studio/art gallery in downtown Pawtucket. During this month of giving thanks and eating too much, we will be doing a special canned goods drive for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Please bring a canned good or other nonperishable food item to donate. In keeping with that spirit, our theme will be "canned." Presenters should feel free to interpret the theme literally, loosely, or not at all. If you haven't heard of this global yet unpronounceable phenomenon, PechaKucha is a monthly format for sharing ideas in which presenters are allotted 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Simply put: it's 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell for grown-ups. It began in Tokyo in 2003, has since spread to over 780 cities worldwide, and first landed in Providence in March of 2009.PechaKucha Providence
Gain Stage is a kinetic sound installation that sounds out and shapes acoustic space in relation to a series of physical and mechanical tableau. Each tableau focuses on a single device or object which involves a process of mechanical amplification or inscription. Some of the tableaus run autonomously, others require manual activation. The movements in each tableau are amplified so that their sounds are heard in varying combinations from speakers spread throughout the space. The sounds are processed to produce an elliptical relationship between the tableau and the sound of the movements it shows: they are filtered or delayed, and often heard at a distance. This processing changes over time, so as each tableau unfolds the sounds associated with it move in and out of acoustic focus. The piece will be presented as an installation in the early evening, then as a live performance with Addie Mitchell and Nina Ruelle joining Ed Osborn in performing the work.

Come celebrate Scøtt Reber's Work/Death installation and witness it's last performance, with a special performances by V. Manuscript and (we're thrilled to announce) 大凶風呂敷 in support of their debut record YUU. 大凶風呂敷 (‘daiKYo,furo shIKI), is a brainbending collaboration between Tamio Shiraishi and Cammisa Buerhaus, that fuses handmade sound, free noise, and guttural blooms of tone poetry. Buerhaus will play her self built pipe organ, and Tamio will play the saxophone. About WORK/DEATH Installation: Comprised of a pair of modified piano boards arranged in the gallery not unlike a pair of stereo speakers, WORK/DEATH incorporates an array of collected debris, objects selected for their (a)tonal and resonant qualities and oxidized visual aesthetic of decay. The arrangements spit and bubble scrapings of sound through veiled and disembodied speakers holding marbles and tinny scourings, with an occasional break allowing distant piano chords and eerie harmonics to wash through the abrasion.

Rafael Toral plays electronic music today as a jazz musician would play his instrument, applying jazz discipline and working practices to his abstract electronics. The result is truly evolutionary music, once described as "a brand of electronic music far more visceral and emotive than that of his cerebral peers". Melodic without notes, rhythmic without a beat, familiar but strange, meticulous but radically free, it is riddled with interesting paradox. Toral has developed a musical system to physically play experimental electronic instruments and puts it to practice with large-scale project Space Program — a complex network of recordings and performances to deliver music that is full of clarity and space, articulating silence and sound in a thoughtful, yet physical way.Rafael Toral
Magic Lantern Cinema Presents FLICKER, PULSE: An Evening with Bruce McClure & Alexander Dupuis, curated by Seth Watter. The art of Bruce McClure is sometimes called, with a nod to the sixties, “expanded cinema.” A more apt expression might in fact be “reduced cinema,” or cinema stripped to its most elementary components: light, sound, a room full of bodies. McClure himself calls it “projector performance,” a phrase that highlights the aspect of live enactment and improvisation that is so integral to all his efforts. McClure creates “a remystification of cinema… meant to elicit astonishment and wonder, but calibrated for a twenty-first-century audience attuned to the aesthetics of noise and distortion” (Ed Halter, Artforum).Flicker, Pulse

Bella's Bartok: Maybe you had a bad day, and you thought it was unredeemable. Maybe you have a cold and you don’t feel like moving around. Maybe you fancy yourself someone who watches a concert quietly from the back, attentively listening. In a few seconds, it’s not going to matter who you are. When the Balkan-inspired, circusy sound of Bella’s Bartok hits your ears, you are no longer in control. You are out of your seat bouncing up and down, and soon your arms are flailing and you’re smiling and screaming. Your bad day, your cold, your fatigue have all vanished, and it’s not even the end of the first song. Bella’s Bartok makes everyone dance, regardless. From living rooms to concert halls the band’s energy makes getting up and moving irresistible. Without fail, someone from the audience comes up after every single show and says the same thing: “I couldn’t help it.” Plus AdapterAdapter and GHOST TOWN REVIVAL (Members of SASQUATCH AND THE SICK-A-BILLYS).Bella's BartokAdapterAdapterGhost Town Revival

'AN OTHER WORLD' will be manipulated during a live performance that combines shadows, song, movement and sound. 'An Other World' is an immersive, interactive installation by Providence-based artist Erik Ruin. Inspired by medieval visions of the afterlife, science-fiction landscapes and more modern/personal struggles with scarcity and depression, this show combines intricate paper-cut scrolls, hanging banners and overhead projections. These visions will be "activated" by the viewer's own shadow and live performances at the opening and closing events. Erik Ruin is a Providence-based printmaker, shadow-puppeteer, founding member of the Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative, and co-creator of the recent book Paths Toward Utopia: Graphic Explorations of Everyday Anarchism (w/ Cindy Milstein, PM Press, 2012).Bad BraidsDungeoneersErik Ruin
The HUMMINBIRD (CHI) - Moon Bros/Humminbird duo! + MOTHERTONGUE (PVD) + MOUNI (PVD) + JENN KELLY (Berlin & CA) psych-folk-singer-songwriter. "On the day you left, you left me hanging, hanging upside-down.......... Jesus complex, let's get pizza... I will share my cheese, just please don't please be so mean..." - Lyrical genius? We think so. CHICAGO - The Humminbird - Muyassar Kurdi will be touring with Matthew Schneider (of Moon Bros) on pedal-steel. Armed with an effected auto-harp, Muyassar and her cohorts create lush and droning soundscapes that feature her sometimes atonal, but always soulful, yelping, singing, and howling. Her songs are fluid, ruminous compositions that dwell on the nature of family, lovers, the natural, and the spiritual world. Classic psychedelic instrument arrangements are infused with Muyassar’s contemporary Freak City-Folk experience to keep psychedelia relevant for a new generation. The HumminbirdMothertongueMouniJenn Kelly
